Overnight Charter

A charter spanning one or more nights aboard the vessel, with overnight accommodation for guests.

An overnight charter is any charter that includes at least one night aboard the vessel. Guests sleep in cabins, the captain and crew stay with the vessel, and provisioning, fuel, and itinerary planning all become materially more involved than a day charter.

Multi-day charters are commonly bareboat (where the charterer takes command) or crewed (where the captain, mate, and often a chef and stewardess stay aboard). Crewed overnight charters in the U.S. typically follow the bareboat-with-crew model — the charterer technically bareboats the vessel and then hires a crew separately — because it avoids COI requirements on larger yachts.

Multi-day charter destinations from South Florida commonly include the Bahamas, the Keys, and the Intracoastal. Overnight itineraries must factor in weather windows, fuel planning, and marina reservations.

Examples

  • A three-night charter from Miami to Bimini and back with overnight stays on the mooring ball in Bimini.
  • A weeklong crewed charter through the Exumas aboard a 70-foot motor yacht.
