Transient Dockage
Short-term docking for visiting vessels, usually priced per foot per night.
Transient dockage is short-term docking purchased by visiting vessels — typically overnight through a few days. Marinas publish transient rates separately from annual/seasonal slip rates, usually as a per-foot-per-night charge. Rates vary by marina quality, demand, season, and shore-power level.
Reservations are typically required during peak season and for any destination marina (Bimini, Nassau, Bahia Mar during boat-show week). Transient guests pay dockage plus metered power and water; many marinas charge a pump-out fee and require reciprocal reservations for holidays.
Transient dockage is the relevant pricing model for overnight and multi-day charter itineraries — the vessel pays each stopover marina for the nights it spends there.
Examples
- A 55-foot yacht pays $4/ft/night plus metered 50A power at a Key Largo marina = $220/night dockage.
- Peak-season transient at a Miami Beach marina can reach $8-10/ft/night plus power and pump-out.
